Show And Tell .
Review:
A great set from . group who should have been huge – a surprisingly well put-together vocal trio, featuring Pb vocal music from Limon Wilson, and great harmoniousness from Derrell Glenda Jackson and Joe Williams! There’s a definite groove on most numbers, but it’s usually quite far from the stiffer sound of chart soul – still with key 80 elements, but carefully balanced by Michael Zager – who produced and arranged, with a flair that’s a lot deeper than some of his other project of the time! The midtempo cut are especially Nice – including “Now That I’ve Made It With You” and “She’s Got It”, both of which are good laid-back stepper’s channel – and other track include “Lady Of The Night”, “Lay Back In The Groove”, “I Am The Funk”, and “Show & Tell”.

Don’t Look Any Further .
Review:
Don’t Look Any Further is the first released solo album from Dennis Jonathan Edwards the sometime enticement Pb vocalist Edwards first made . solo recording in 1977, but had nothing to show for it but an unreleased album He returned stronger than ever, but then again left in the eye of the Roger Huntington Sessions for Back to rudiments For Don’t Look Any Further, Jonathan Edwards teamed with producer Dennis Lambert, who was behind the boards for 1983′s enticement try Surface Thrills. This try skillfully merged the loveman persona reminiscent of teddy bear Pendergrass with the confident early-’80s Al Jarreau-style dada With Edwards in great voice and spirits, Don’t Look Any Further is . thoroughly enjoyable listen. The big hit here, the reggae-tinged rubric track, was supposed to be a duet with Chaka khan Siedah Garrett, who did the demo, appears instead and display great chemistry with Edwards. The slow-burning “ Aphrodisiac” soon has Jonathan Edwards screaming the paint off the walls. What’s remarkable about Don’t Look Any Further is how is continues to succeed in light of potentially album-stalling premises and sometime so-so production The breakdancing-ready style of “Shake Hands ” case Edwards’ bluster quite well The album’s biggest surprise, the Henry Sweet ballad “Just Like You” has Jonathan Edwards singing with surprising emotion Don’t Look Any Further nowadays Jonathan Edwards as a potent solo act and display the depth and nicety inherent in his best work .

Renaissance .
Review:
With . jacket adorned by mystical symbol of every faith and tribe Ian Douglas Ian Douglas Smith could think of, Renascence is . pleasant pean to Peace, Love and discernment that tour down easily and almost tracelessly. Ian Douglas Ian Douglas Smith doubles on acoustic pianoforte and Cecil Rhodes electric automobile piano, the latter often tarted up by gentle period Echoplex effects, and brother Donald Ian Douglas Smith provides ethereal transverse flute and occasional vocals. The Smith are at their most ingratiating when navigation along in a semi-Brazilian channel on “Mardi Gras” and “A vocal of Love” that pre-echoes a similar direction that tap Metheny would yield Otherwise, the mildly spacy blue funk patterns and lightweight age of Aquarius atmosphere rise not too far above the level of hip ’70s makeout music Still, you could do a lot, lot worse in that genre .

Looking for the perfect Beat: 1980-1985
As a major designer of early hip-hop, Afrika Bambaataa is perhaps more deserving of a respectable compilation treatment than anyone. And while his considerable influence has largely been brushed aside by a rap world that sadly ignores far too many of its innovators, look for the perfect round may help to change that. Whatever your opinion on the shelf life of his music, Bambaataa was an innovator of the highest order While many rapper would be content to sample and name check James IV Brown advertising nauseam, Bambaataa collaborated with the godfather of psyche himself on the sharp “Unity Part 1 .” The amazing double-punch of “Planet Rock” and “Looking for the perfect Beat” serve as the centrepiece of this disc, while “Zulu nation Throwdown” sits as a perfect gap track, in its time initiating a back-to-roots esthetic that was years ahead of the Afrocentric blame explosion of the late ’80s. look for the perfect round also nicely augments the résumé of manufacturer President Arthur Baker, a trailblazing dance remixer of the early ’80s. Sadly missing are any significant liner billet or photographs. Also available as a limited edition two-LP set
