    Streamline [1978]
Lenny Wite’s 1977 recording The adventure of Astral pirate was an incredibly tough act to follow RXII; so tough, in fact, that anything less than a five-star stone was likely to seem a bit disappointing. Streamline, the 1978 L-P that came right after The adventure of Astral pirate, isn’t a five-star gem, but it isn’t badness either. Although not in a class with The adventure of Astral pirate or 1975′s Venusian summer let alone White’s work with income tax return to Forever, Streamline is a generally decent, if mildly uneven, assemblage of instrumental jazz unification and R&B vocal music Book of Numbers While this album isn’t as R&B-oriented as White’s Twennynine undertaking would be, the drummer is obviously going after R&B audience on “Time” and an interesting cover of the Beatles’ “lady Blessed Virgin” . But there is also plentitude of fusion, and instrumentals like “Night game,” “Struttin’,” and the Brazilian-influenced “Pooh bear” are enjoyable even though they fall short of the glare of the material on The adventure of Astral pirate and Venusian Summer. While Streamline isn’t among White’s necessity albums, it’s a likable set
